        Happy New Year!!! Warm Welcome to 2011

Picture
Summer of 2010, Outerbanks, NC
WELL, another year has passed us by and we hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas and great New Years. Once again, we move into the New Year with snow in the Delaware Valley Tri-State area. Although it is nothing compared to last year, it only takes a few inches to remind me of that beautiful Upstate New York weather (sarcasm). Here in Hockessin, Delaware we did not have a white Christmas but the snow did come not too far after the New Year with 2-4" of snow. Our Christmas time this year was an enjoyable moment as we entertained twenty-five plus people from my wife's side of the family with a nice ham dinner  & fellowship.
As we move through the winter & into the spring of 2011, I pray that everyone has a blessed year in 2011. Try to remember all of our family members out there. I challenge you to reach out to those in need, to laugh, love, and fellowship with one another where-ever you may be. Remember, as we live in this bus-stop of life, time is short and even though our society has forced us to become workaholics that steal the precious time away, we need to take a timeout & make time for one another in 2011.

Our personal family goal for 2011 will be to take some time to visit the cousins in western PA.  All of them in York, Lancaster, and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania have all offered to commit to some form of fellowship which will help bring everyone a bit closer to that family reunion in 2011.  Remember as a family we are suppose to be supportive of one another and enjoy our fellowship together. Our hope for the year 2011 is that none of us will take the family for granted. As one famous poet once wrote;

 "Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family.  Most of us would give our own life for the survival of a family member, yet we lead our daily life too often as if we take our family for granted."... Paul Pearshall

Until next time, keep the faith and be strong in all that you do....God bless you all.
Kindest regards,
Ray Metzler

FAMILY REUNION PLANS

Our challenge this year is to start on getting at least the commitee members together to plan the Family Reunion. We are thinking of late spring, early summer to visit the Carr's and seek the decisions of WHERE, WHEN, and how should the committee proceed.  We may opt to have a poll that narrows the time frame down first, and then tackle the details later on. Most likely, we will give everyone plenty of advance notice so that each of us can plan accordingly.
Lastly, we are still awaiting contact information from the regional Committee Members to put a master spreadsheet together of all family members. Over the course of the next few months, you may be contacted by a committee member for information. If anyone has any contact info they would like to share, please send it through the website “contact” page. Thanks again Committee Members for your help. We will get there.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

Picture
As we move forward into 2010, we ask that you continue to support & pray for ALL our troops who have chosen to sacrifice their time & lives to fight, protect, & perserve the FREEDOM of our Country, The United States of America.
Please feel free to support their efforts by giving a little back .... http://www.give2thetroops.org/

'"The lack of emotional security of our American young people is due, I believe, to their isolation from the larger family unit.  No two people - no mere father and mother - as I have often said, are enough to provide emotional security for a child.  He needs to feel himself one in a world of kinfolk, persons of variety in age and temperament, and yet allied to himself by an indissoluble bond which he cannot break if he could, for nature has welded him into it before he was born."  ~Pearl S. Buck
